Get Started

Building a conservatory can be as involved as any other general construction project. At Hampton Conservatories, we try to make the process as painless as possible. Many of our clients ask us to provide a turnkey operation, from design to obtaining permits to installing the room with all the associated work that goes with the project. And we don’t stop there. In many cases we are asked to advise and/or to supply furnishings, fittings and accessories.

Alternatively, we would be happy to work with you, your architect and builder to help bring your dream space to reality.

To assist us in the process, we may ask you some of the following typical questions:

  1. What do you want to use the space for? Is it a casual or formal space? Will it be used for eating or just sitting and relaxing in? How many people will be using it? If it is a greenhouse, is it a hobby greenhouse or a working greenhouse? If it is a pool enclosure do you want it fully enclosed or with the ability to open it up? If it is a restaurant, how many people do you need to seat? For other applications, are there any specific requirements we need to be aware of (e.g. handicapped access)? What is the site access like? Is the conservatory at grade level or terrace level?
  2. Do you have a survey of the property and any drawings of the property? This will assist us in any discussions with towns and villages to find out what permits, variances or other approvals might be required.
  3. Have you done any research of your own? Do you have any images of similar projects that you like? Do you know the size of space you are considering? Do you know where you want it and how you want it to relate to the existing property?  Do you know the orientation of the site – how is it affected by sun, shade, wind and snow?

These are just some questions to consider.

If you would like to start the process, you may consider emailing us some photos of the site together with as much information as you can to help us in our discussions.
Once we have had an initial conversation, we may look to set up a meeting on site where we can take a detailed measured and photographic survey, and discuss the project in more detail with you. From this, we can work up a design and an idea of potential costs for the project.
